Adam Milton Photography

During my time at SIU I met a lot of talented people who leave no doubt in my mind that they are the best of the best at what they do. Adam Milton is one of those people. I worked with him in a few of our Audio Production classes on music projects and recording sessions. We came up with some great stuff including our final project (the beat “Go That Far” in the music player on the right). He played a nasty bass line and even did his best bass vocal (a la Nate Dogg) on the song.

Musical talent aside, and he has a lot of it, Adam is the sickest photographer artist I know. His work is more than just photographs as you will soon see. Depending on the project, he blends his talent with the camera with his skills in post-production (or whatever photographers call it) and graphic design.

WordP – “Indestructible” (Produced by Brian Covelli) on iTunes

You support my production right?  Would you like to trade 99 cents for a song I produced?  Buy the single “Indestructible” I produced for WordP for less than the cost of an item off the dollar menu at McDonald’s.  The song is great and its better for you than a McChicken with all that mayo they plop on.   Mayonnaise which leads to regret… or a great song which you will no doubt add to a playlist of your favorites?  Or both for two dollars!  WordP Indestructible on iTunes.

This is a new beat that guitarist Dan Linehan and I recently finished. The inspiration and direction comes from the deep south New Orleans bayou sound. Couple that with a triplet/swing hip-hop drum track, funky organs, Latin percussion, deep bass, and spacey synths and you get this odd masterpiece. Look out for more very soon. From our minds to your ears…enjoy. – Covelli

My Easter Eggs are better than your Easter Eggs

Actually I just got these in an email and thought it was amazing.  Really.  Amazing.  I encourage you to go in your any fridge and draw on the eggs.  It would be worth it just for the one second they open the carton up to make an omelet and AHHH!  OK its really not that exciting.  In music news check out the finished versions of Frozen Yogurt and Somewhere I did for Word P and look out for the newest song we are finishing up featuring Grace.  That will probably be one of the sickest songs I’ve produced, look for it to win a Grammy.  Happy Easter.

Obama to 'aggressively protect' intellectual property

by Greg Sandoval

As a presidential candidate, Barack Obama was young, a technology fan, and appeared to be an establishment outsider. For those reasons some techies hoped he might be sympathetic to copyright reform.

Those hopes are fading fast as President Obama appears to have lined up on the side of copyright owners. In a speech at the Export-Import Bank’s annual conference in Washington, D.C., President Obama told attendees Thursday that his administration is firmly behind producers of creative works.

“We’re going to aggressively protect our intellectual property,” Obama said. “Our single greatest asset is the innovation and the ingenuity and creativity of the American people…It is essential to our prosperity and it will only become more so in this century. But it’s only a competitive advantage if our companies know that someone else can’t just steal that idea and duplicate it with cheaper inputs and labor.”

The president’s comments come as his administration continues to revitalize an improving but still ailing U.S. economy. They echo statements made often by leaders in the U.S. film, music, video game, and software industries. For a while these sectors have claimed piracy and Internet file sharing mean the loss of U.S. jobs and poison the economy. Critics say that the job losses are more due to poor business decisions made by the studios and music labels. Read more
